Cos’è il Grand Slam UIJJ?
Il Grand Slam UIJJ è il circuito competitivo di massimo prestigio UIJJ riservato agli atleti cintura nera Adult. Si compone di quattro tappe: Milano BJJ Challenge, Roma BJJ Challenge, Bologna BJJ Challenge e Italian BJJ Open, evento conclusivo del circuito.
Come si vince il Grand Slam UIJJ?
Per conquistare il titolo, un atleta deve vincere tutte e quattro le tappe consecutive, gareggiando nella stessa categoria di peso. La mancata vittoria anche in una sola tappa interrompe definitivamente la corsa al Grand Slam per l’edizione in corso.
È obbligatorio partecipare alla prima tappa?
Sì. La corsa al Grand Slam inizia obbligatoriamente dal Milano BJJ Challenge. Solo i vincitori della propria categoria a Milano possono proseguire il percorso nelle tre tappe successive. Non è possibile entrare nella corsa al Grand Slam a circuito già iniziato.
Per partecipare al Grand Slam devo versare una quota aggiuntiva?
No. La partecipazione al Grand Slam UIJJ non richiede alcuna quota aggiuntiva né un’iscrizione separata.
L’atleta deve soddisfare i requisiti previsti per la categoria Cintura Nera Adult ed effettuare la normale iscrizione alla tappa di riferimento, nel GI, nel NO-GI oppure in entrambe le specialità.
L’iscrizione alla competizione inserisce automaticamente l’atleta nel relativo percorso Grand Slam, purché siano rispettate tutte le condizioni stabilite dal regolamento. Restano dovute esclusivamente le normali quote previste per la partecipazione alla gara e alle specialità selezionate.
Cosa viene considerato una vittoria valida ai fini del Grand Slam?
Per vincere una tappa ai fini del Grand Slam, l’atleta deve classificarsi al primo posto dopo aver disputato e vinto almeno un incontro effettivo nella propria categoria di peso, Adult, Gi, No-Gi o entrambi.
Il primo posto ottenuto senza disputare alcun incontro non è valido ai fini del Grand Slam. Di conseguenza, un atleta unico nella propria categoria, anche se regolarmente iscritto, presente all’evento e con peso ufficialmente registrato, non matura il premio della tappa e non può proseguire la corsa al Grand Slam. Questa condizione si applica a tutte e quattro le tappe.
Qual è il premio del Grand Slam?
Ogni atleta può ottenere un massimo di €5.000 per ciascuna specialità completata e nella relativa categoria di peso.
Nelle prime tre tappe, ciascun atleta che vince la propria categoria e soddisfa tutti i requisiti riceve:
• €300 nel GI;
• €300 nel NO-GI.
L’atleta che vince entrambe le specialità nella stessa tappa riceve quindi €600 complessivi.
Completando il percorso all’Italian BJJ Open, l’atleta riceve ulteriori €4.100 per la specialità completata, raggiungendo €5.000 nel GI oppure €5.000 nel NO-GI. Completando entrambi i percorsi, può ottenere complessivamente €10.000.
Il Grand Slam UIJJ è valido sia per il GI sia per il NO-GI? Un atleta può partecipare a entrambe le specialità?
Sì. Il regolamento si applica separatamente al GI e al NO-GI. Un atleta può partecipare a entrambe le specialità nella stessa tappa e rimanere in corsa in entrambe, purché continui a vincere e soddisfi autonomamente tutti i requisiti previsti per ciascun percorso.
Cosa succede se un atleta vince in una specialità ma non nell’altra? Quanto può vincere completando entrambi i percorsi?
La corsa nel GI e quella nel NO-GI sono indipendenti. Se, in una tappa, l’atleta vince nel GI ma non nel NO-GI, rimane in corsa esclusivamente nel GI; lo stesso vale nella situazione inversa. Se vince tutte e quattro le tappe in entrambe le specialità, soddisfacendo separatamente tutti i requisiti previsti, conquista due Grand Slam e riceve complessivamente €10.000: €5.000 per il GI e €5.000 per il NO-GI.
Cosa succede se non vinco una delle tappe?
Se l’atleta non vince una tappa in una determinata specialità, esce esclusivamente dal relativo percorso Grand Slam e non potrà concorrere ai premi successivi né al premio finale di €4.100 previsto per quella specialità. L’eventuale percorso nell’altra specialità rimane valido.
Tutti i premi già conquistati nel percorso interrotto rimangono definitivamente acquisiti.
Posso cambiare categoria di peso durante il Grand Slam?
No. Per completare il Grand Slam è necessario gareggiare e vincere nella stessa categoria di peso in tutte e quattro le tappe. Un cambio volontario di categoria interrompe la corsa al titolo.
Eventuali accorpamenti, cancellazioni o modifiche di categoria disposti dall’organizzazione saranno valutati direttamente da UIJJ.
Chi può partecipare al Grand Slam UIJJ?
Possono partecipare tutti gli atleti cintura nera Adult, indipendentemente dalla nazionalità. Possono partecipare anche gli atleti appartenenti alle categorie Master, purché si iscrivano e competano nella categoria Adult durante il percorso Grand Slam.
Quale regolamento si applica alle competizioni?
Tutte le tappe del Grand Slam UIJJ si svolgono secondo il regolamento tecnico IBJJF/UIJJ applicabile alla competizione.

What is the UIJJ Grand Slam?
The UIJJ Grand Slam is UIJJ’s premier competition circuit for Adult black belt athletes. It consists of four events: the Milano BJJ Challenge, Roma BJJ Challenge, Bologna BJJ Challenge and Italian BJJ Open, the final event of the circuit.
How do you win the UIJJ Grand Slam?
To claim the title, an athlete must win all four consecutive events while competing in the same weight division. Failure to win any single event ends the athlete’s Grand Slam run for the current edition.
Is participation in the first event mandatory?
Yes. The Grand Slam run begins with the Milano BJJ Challenge. Only athletes who win their respective division in Milan are eligible to continue through the following three events. Athletes cannot enter the Grand Slam race after the circuit has begun.
Is there an additional fee to participate in the Grand Slam?
No. Participation in the UIJJ Grand Slam does not require any additional fee or separate registration.
Athletes must meet the eligibility requirements for the Adult Black Belt division and complete the standard registration for the relevant event in GI, NO-GI or both disciplines.
Registration for the competition automatically enters the athlete into the corresponding Grand Slam campaign, provided that all requirements established by the Rules are satisfied. Only the standard registration fees applicable to the event and the selected disciplines remain payable.
What counts as a valid event win for Grand Slam purposes?
To win an event for Grand Slam purposes, an athlete must finish first after competing in and winning at least one actual match in their division.
A first-place finish awarded without any match being contested does not qualify. Therefore, an athlete who is the sole competitor in their division, even if properly registered, present at the event and officially weighed in, will not earn the event prize and will not be eligible to continue their Grand Slam run. This requirement applies to all four events.
What is the Grand Slam prize?
Each athlete may earn a maximum of €5,000 for each completed discipline and corresponding weight division.
At each of the first three events, every athlete who wins their weight division and satisfies all applicable requirements will receive:
• €300 in GI;
• €300 in NO-GI.
An athlete who wins both disciplines at the same event will therefore receive a total of €600.
By completing the campaign at the Italian BJJ Open, the athlete receives an additional €4,100 for the completed discipline, reaching €5,000 in GI or €5,000 in NO-GI. An athlete who completes both campaigns may earn a total of €10,000.
Does the UIJJ Grand Slam apply to both GI and NO-GI? Can an athlete compete in both disciplines?
Yes. The Rules apply independently to GI and NO-GI. An athlete may compete in both disciplines at the same event and remain in contention in both, provided that the athlete continues to win and independently satisfies all the requirements established for each campaign.
What happens if an athlete wins in one discipline but not the other? How much can an athlete win by completing both campaigns?
The GI and NO-GI campaigns are independent. If an athlete wins in GI at an event but does not win in NO-GI, the athlete remains in contention exclusively in GI; the same applies in the reverse situation. If the athlete wins all four events in both disciplines and independently satisfies all applicable requirements, the athlete completes two Grand Slams and receives a total of €10,000: €5,000 for GI and €5,000 for NO-GI.
What happens if I fail to win one of the events?
If an athlete fails to win an event in a specific discipline, only the corresponding Grand Slam campaign comes to an end. The athlete will no longer be eligible for subsequent prizes or for the final €4,100 prize in that discipline. Any campaign in the other discipline remains valid.
All prize money previously earned in the discontinued campaign remains permanently awarded.
Can I change weight divisions during the Grand Slam?
No. To complete the Grand Slam, an athlete must compete in and win the same weight division at all four events. A voluntary change of weight division ends the athlete’s Grand Slam run.
Any division merger, cancellation or organizational change imposed by the event organizers will be reviewed directly by UIJJ.
Who can participate in the UIJJ Grand Slam?
The UIJJ Grand Slam is open to all Adult black belt athletes, regardless of nationality. Athletes eligible for Master divisions may also participate, provided they register and compete in the Adult division throughout their Grand Slam run.
What competition rules apply?
All UIJJ Grand Slam events are conducted under the applicable IBJJF/UIJJ technical competition rules.
