Regolamento ufficiale UIJJ Grand Slam
| Tappa | Premio |
|---|---|
| Milano BJJ Challenge |
€300 GI €300 NO-GI |
| Roma BJJ Challenge |
€300 GI €300 NO-GI |
| Bologna BJJ Challenge |
€300 GI €300 NO-GI |
| Italian BJJ Open e completamento del Grand Slam |
€4.100 GI €4.100 NO-GI |
| Totale massimo per atleta |
€5.000 GI €5.000 NO-GI |

UIJJ Grand Slam Official Rules
1. The UIJJ Grand Slam
The UIJJ Grand Slam is UIJJ’s premier competition circuit for Adult black belt athletes.
The circuit consists of four events:
- Milano BJJ Challenge
- Roma BJJ Challenge
- Bologna BJJ Challenge
- Italian BJJ Open, the final event of the circuit
Unlike traditional competition circuits based on cumulative ranking points, the UIJJ Grand Slam rewards athletes who complete a perfect competitive run.
To claim the UIJJ Grand Slam title in one or both disciplines, GI and NO-GI, an athlete must win all four events in each discipline in which they compete, while remaining in the same weight division throughout the entire circuit.
The Grand Slam campaign begins with the Milano BJJ Challenge and is assessed separately for GI and NO-GI. Athletes who win their division in GI and/or NO-GI remain in contention in the corresponding campaign and may continue through the following three events.
At each event, the athlete must win again in the same discipline and weight division. Failure to win ends only the campaign in that discipline and does not affect any campaign that remains active in the other discipline.
This format makes the UIJJ Grand Slam one of the most demanding achievements on the UIJJ competition calendar, rewarding athletes capable of maintaining championship-level performance throughout the entire series.
2. Minimum Competition Requirement
For UIJJ Grand Slam purposes, to be recognized as the winner of an event in a specific discipline and remain in contention for the corresponding title, an athlete must compete in and win at least one actual match in that discipline and weight division.
2.1 Wins Valid for Qualification
Which wins count towards Grand Slam qualification?
An event victory counts towards Grand Slam qualification if the athlete has competed in at least one match against an athlete from a different Team, or against an athlete from the same Team who, in the same division, has won at least one match against an athlete from a different Team.
A first-place finish awarded without any match being contested is not sufficient in the corresponding discipline.
An athlete who is the sole competitor in a discipline and weight division will not be recognized as the winner of that Grand Slam event, will not earn the prize assigned to that discipline and will not be eligible to continue that campaign. Any campaign in the other discipline remains valid, provided that all its requirements have been independently satisfied.
This requirement applies separately to GI and NO-GI at all four events. To complete either campaign, the athlete must have competed in and won at least one match in the corresponding discipline at each event.
3. Grand Slam Prize - Up to €5,000 per Athlete
Each athlete can earn a maximum prize of €5,000 for each completed event and in the corresponding weight category: €5,000 in the GI and €5,000 in the NO-GI. An athlete who completes both events can therefore earn a total of €10,000.
Prize money is earned progressively across the four events:
| Event | Prize |
|---|---|
| Milano BJJ Challenge |
€300 GI €300 NO-GI |
| Roma BJJ Challenge |
€300 GI €300 NO-GI |
| Bologna BJJ Challenge |
€300 GI €300 NO-GI |
| Italian BJJ Open and completion of the Grand Slam |
€4.100 GI €4.100 NO-GI |
| Maximum total prize per athlete |
€5.000 GI €5.000 NO-GI |
At the conclusion of each of the first three events, every athlete who remains in contention, wins their weight division and satisfies the minimum competition requirement will receive €300 for the discipline won. An athlete who wins both GI and NO-GI at the same event will receive two separate prizes: €300 for GI and €300 for NO-GI, for a total of €600.
Prize money is earned separately in GI and NO-GI and remains permanently awarded. Failure to win in one discipline ends only the corresponding campaign and does not affect any campaign that remains active in the other discipline.
The final €4,100 prize per discipline is awarded to an athlete who, after winning the first three events in the same discipline and weight division, also wins the Italian BJJ Open and completes the corresponding Grand Slam.
Multiple athletes and weight divisions may be awarded in the same edition. The maximum prize is €5,000 per athlete for each completed discipline, or €10,000 for an athlete who completes both GI and NO-GI.
4. Eligibility
The UIJJ Grand Slam is open to all Adult black belt athletes, regardless of nationality.
Athletes who are eligible for Master divisions may also compete in the Grand Slam, provided they register and compete in the Adult division throughout the entire circuit.
Participation in the Milano BJJ Challenge, the opening event of the circuit, is mandatory in order to contend for the Grand Slam title.
Athletes cannot enter the Grand Slam race after the circuit has already begun. Only division winners from the Milano BJJ Challenge who meet all applicable requirements are eligible to continue their Grand Slam run at the Roma BJJ Challenge, Bologna BJJ Challenge and Italian BJJ Open.
Registration and Participation Fee
Participation in the UIJJ Grand Slam does not require any additional fee or separate registration. The Grand Slam is an integral part of the standard competition entry available to Adult Black Belt athletes at each event.
To enter the corresponding Grand Slam campaign, athletes must satisfy all applicable eligibility requirements and complete the standard event registration in GI, NO-GI or both disciplines. Only the standard fees applicable to the event and the selected disciplines remain payable.
5. Weight Division
To complete the Grand Slam, an athlete must compete in and win the same weight division at all four events.
Weight Division Requirement
To remain in contention for the UIJJ Grand Slam, athletes must register for every event in the same weight division selected at the Milano BJJ Challenge.
If an athlete is registered in a different weight division at a subsequent event, they may correct their registration by the official deadline set by UIJJ for competition changes. If the registration has not been corrected by that deadline, the athlete will automatically be eliminated from Grand Slam contention, while their registration for that individual event will remain valid in the selected weight division.
It is the athlete’s sole responsibility to verify the accuracy of their weight division for each registration. UIJJ is under no obligation to notify athletes of any registration errors.
A voluntary change of weight division during the circuit will end the athlete’s eligibility for the Grand Slam title.
Any exceptional circumstances involving division mergers, cancellations or organizational changes will be reviewed directly by UIJJ in accordance with the principles of the Grand Slam.
6. Gi And No-Gi Disciplines
These Rules apply in full and independently to both the GI and NO-GI disciplines. Each discipline constitutes a separate Grand Slam campaign.
An athlete may compete in both disciplines at the same event and remain in contention in both simultaneously. To complete the Grand Slam in either discipline, the athlete must win all four events in that discipline and independently satisfy all the requirements set out in these Rules for that campaign, including competing in the same weight division throughout the entire circuit.
A result obtained in one discipline does not affect the athlete’s campaign in the other. If an athlete wins the GI discipline at an event but does not win the NO-GI discipline, the athlete remains in contention exclusively in GI; the same principle applies in the reverse situation.
An athlete who completes the Grand Slam in both GI and NO-GI will win two separate Grand Slam titles and will be entitled to a total prize of €10,000: €5,000 for GI and €5,000 for NO-GI.
7. Competition Rules
Each event of the UIJJ Grand Slam is conducted under the applicable IBJJF/UIJJ technical competition rules.
The UIJJ Grand Slam title and the corresponding final prize are awarded exclusively to athletes who meet all requirements set out in these rules.
